Community Radio Youghal (March 2011)

Gillian Harty, Project Manager of F1 in Schools in Ireland, reports on the 2011 National Finals held at Griffith College Dublin on 7 April. Team Octane Racing from Dundalk Grammar School fought off fierce competition from 23 other finalist teams from all over Ireland to claim the national trophy – as well as the opportunity to represent Ireland in the 2011 World Championships in Malaysia in September. The overall winners receive €2,000 in prize money.

Near FM 90.3 (March 2011)

Noel McGuinness spoke to Gillian Harty for the F1 in Schools competition where teams of school students design, build and race model Formula 1 cars. The competition encourages students to take an interest in science and technology in school and it is backed by the Irish Computer Society in response to skills shortages in computing and engineering. Following the regional finals and the national finals, the overall winners will represent Ireland in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge World Championships. Listen to this podcast to hear more about this exciting competition.

Dublin City FM (October 2009)

Interview with Koni Kats team members Conor Daly, Eoin O'Connell, Sean Cleary and Adam Gammell from St. David's Secondary School, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.

Koni Kats were crowned F1 in Schools World Champions in London in September 2009, when they beat off rivals from 20 countries to take the Bernie Ecclestone trophy.
