Our Team

Student Innovation Ireland CLG is a non-profit body which is dedicated to delivering the F1 in Schools Ireland programme. Our team is comprised of award-winning F1 in Schools alumni and STEM advocates.

Meet all the fantastic members of our team below:

Co-National Director

Team: Team AIB Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2015.

About: Paul is currently working in the pharmaceutical industry as a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Limerick. He was a member of Team AIB Racing who competed at the World Finals, in 2015, and won the Best Pit Display Award as well as winning 3rd Place overall. His motivation for organising this competition is to offer secondary school students the chance to compete in the best STEM competition around and to experience the same opportunities he has benefited from.

Sponsorship and PR Team Lead

Team: CJJ AutoVinco, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2018.  Victorum Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Malaysia 2017

About: Ruth has been Team Manager to two very successful teams throughout her experience with F1 in Schools, leading both teams to World Finals. She has won both 2nd and 4th Place Overall, alongside the Marketing and Sponsorship and Best Verbal Presentation awards at World Finals level. Ruth is now studying Applied Languages at the University of Limerick and aims to pursue a career in Marketing within Formula 1.

Technical Team Lead

Team: FM-1 Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2018.

About: Omar was instrumental to the success of his school's first-ever F1 in Schools team, highlighted by their top-20 finish at the 2018 World Finals, and his selection for the Williams Engineering Academy. In 2019, he returned to the World Finals as a race control judge. He has carried that same passion into his current aerospace engineering degree at Queens University Belfast.

Events Manager - South

Team: Pact Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2015

About: Órla was part of Tracktion and subsequently Irish-German team Pact Racing, which placed 7th overall and was awarded “Best Team Identity” at the World Finals. She puts her degree in Irish and Media Studies from DCU to use by hosting her Irish-language show on Shannonside Northern Sound radio and teaching in her local Gaelscoil. She hopes that F1 in Schools will bring students the same experiences and enjoyment that she felt.

Events Manager - East

Team: Pact Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2015.

About: Sorcha is a Computer Science with Data Science graduate from University College Dublin, and currently a Data Analyst with Three Ireland. She was a member of the 2015 F1 in Schools World Finals Irish-German collaboration team Pact Racing in Singapore. Pact Racing placed 7th overall in the world finals and were awarded “Best Team Identity” by Scuderia Ferrari.

Events Manager - West

About: Mark Caffrey is a final year Applied Physics student in NUIG. Mark has a passion for Formula 1 and while he was not involved with F1 in schools during his school years he is now determined to ensure its long-term future in Irish schools. As part of the events team Mark will be involved with securing venues and looks forward to ensuring the smooth running of F1 in Schools.

PR Manager

Team: Unity Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Malaysia 2017.

About: A second year Aeronautical Engineering student in the University of Limerick, also studying alongside Williams F1 team as part of the Unilever Williams Engineering Academy. Richard competed in the 2017 F1 in Schools World Finals as Team Manager and Design Engineer of Unity Racing.

About: Lucy is a fourth-year Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering student at Trinity College Dublin. After competing in F1 in Schools Lucy, decided to join Formula Trinity, a Formula Student team, and is now the Team Captain.

Technical Team

Team: Vintius Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Abu Dhabi 2019.

About: Eoghan was the Design Engineer for Vintius Racing. He is currently studying Pharmaceutical Chemistry in NUIG. As many Science-based industries become more technology orientated, Eoghan credits F1 in Schools for building his technical skills and boosting his confidence in using a variety of softwares.

Marketing Team

Team: CJJ AutoVinco, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2018.

About: Bhagya has competed in the 2018 F1 World Finals in Singapore as the Sponsorship Manager of CJJ AutoVinco who placed 2nd Overall at that finals event. She is now studying Engineering at the National University of Ireland in Galway. Bhagya hopes to inspire more females to get involved with F1 in Schools and encourage them pursue careers in STEM.

Marketing Team

Team: CJJ Autovinco, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2018. Victorum Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Malaysia 2017

About: Alannah was the Marketing Manager for two years in a row with two very strong teams. Both teams placed 2nd and 4th place overall, winning awards for Best Verbal Presentation and Best Marketing and Sponsorship. Alannah is now studying Gaeilge and French at Mary Immaculate College Limerick

Recruitment

Team: FM-1 Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Singapore 2018.

About: F1 in Schools motivated Tim to pursue studying Engineering in Trinity College Dublin where he is currently going into his 2nd year. He is interested in Computer Vision and AI, and hopes to research Autonomous Vehicles as part of Formula Trinity, the only Formula Student team in Ireland.

About: David is a Computer Science and Business student at Trinity College Dublin. He has previously competed in the F1 in Schools World Finals in Singapore in 2018 as part of FM-1 Racing. He enjoys playing hurling and golf in his spare time.

Recruitment

Team: Vintius Racing, F1 in Schools World Finals, Abu Dhabi 2019.

About: Conor was Team Manager of Vintius Racing, the Outstanding Sportsmanship award winners at the 2019 World Finals. The experiences from this competition has inspired him to begin studying Engineering at NUI Galway. Conor hopes to grow the impact of F1 in Schools across Ireland and to help introduce others to STEM.
